We are so happy to be part of the new Madison County (KY) Community Calendar from the beginning planning stages with the coordinator and manager of the new calendar, Richmond Tourism. Nicole worked alongside Lori and Jessie at Richmond Tourism from the first meeting with all the local event contributors (including EKU Perfoming Arts, Parks & Rec, Baptist Health Hospital, Richmond Industrial Development Corp., Richmond Chamber, Business Babes Society, Downtown Richmond Association, National College, Hummel Planetarium, and more) to the design and development of the new content management website.
We had a deadline of getting the site ready to start entering dates by January 1st, which was met. We had our first training session January 13th at the Richmond Tourism office and then the second training on January 23rd at the National College computer lab, where Rosanbalm Communications taped a commercial to announce the new calendar (see below).
The mission of Richmond Tourism was to create a central location that all local organizations, venues and nonprofits could have access to add their events so there were less conflicts among community events, as well as provide a one-stop source for the community to be informed of local shows, concerts, festivals and sports events. This calendar is free to all users, with no ads and no agenda for local businesses. It is moderated and managed by the Richmond Tourism department, and all events will be approved by their staff.
