Quality over Quantity– WP Beginner

What is WordPress & Why Does it Need Regular Maintenance?

“WordPress powers more than 30% of all websites in the world.”

What is WordPress?

WordPress is a popular open-source content management system (CMS) that originally started as a blogging platform but has grown into a very powerful, versatile, very customizable and responsive website platform that is the most SEO-friendly of any of the other web design builders or protocols. Because of the benefits, since its launch in 2003, WordPress has grown to power roughly one-third of websites worldwide.

The upside of its popularity, WordPress has attracted a community of plugin developers to increase the functionality, theme designs and customization of WordPress. On the downside, due to its large user-base, WordPress is frequently the target of hackers. To reduce this risk, users should ensure that their WordPress software is kept up-to-date at all times.

Why its Essential to Keep your WordPress Website & WordPress Components Updated

Keeping your WordPress website up-to-date protects your site, keeps your data secure, fixes any bugs, prevents any WordPress update conflicts, and can also improve speed as well as the look, feel and functionality of your website.

  1. Security: Because WordPress is open source, anyone create code to improve it or unfortunately to hack/break your site. Latest versions of WordPress are using software to prevent known security vulnerabilities.
  2. New Features: Each WordPress release includes content improvements, new functionality, new features to improve your management experience.
  3. Speed: Each release comes with performance improvements, so your website runs faster and more efficiently.
  4. Fix Bugs & User Complaints: WordPress is listening to its users, and with each new release they are fixing several bugs, the last release addressed 20 bugs.
  5. Prevent Compatibility Issues: Plugins and themes developers respond accordingly to each new WordPress version update, so their products are functional with any changes. If not, they provide updates which should be checked regularly.
  6. Save Costs & Hassles: If your site is hacked, you could lose content, lose leads and conversions depending on how your site is affected, lose SEO ranking with Google if your site is seen containing malicious content, security issues, bugs or malware, and the cost of fixing, rebuilding your site and removing all aspects of the malware can cost additional expenses for a full cleanup and restoration of your site content.
